When
we are starting to dream our own house, we make sure that kids will be having
their own room. Even we have a small space, we manage to have their own
freedom. Pero we make a rule that they can use it when they are in college na,
he he…ok masyadong harsh yata, pag high school na sila pwede na silang mag move
in.
Right
now my eldest daughter is in Grade 6 and for three consecutive nights she was able
to sleep in her own room all by herself! She asked us naman if she can sleep
dun. We’re hesitant at first to grant on her request…double deck kaya yun share
sila ng youngest daughter ko and yung top portion ang kanya. Pano kung
malaglag? Waaah.
The
second night we tried to convince her to sleep with us at the our bedroom. Ayaw
pa rin, very excited lagi sa room nya.
Big
girl na nga “sniff,
sniff”.
So
I tried to wake up every 4 hours to check her. We don’t let her closed the
door. And she sleeps soundly.
I
can see the enjoyment in her face. She wakes up ahead of me and manages to take
her bath, eat alone and do other morning ritual without my supervision. She
arranges her things neatly and cautiously. In a few years, fully dalaga na to. She
also found her niche as ate to her siblings. Mature na rin mag isip.
Okay,
it’s hard for us parent to be separated to our kids but it is still the best
thing to consider. We hope she will become more independent, responsible and
hone her skills in every decision she will make.
And
STILL they need the guidance of us parents’ pa rin.
That’s
it.
